Wee planets - great photos

Trawling through Flickr, I came across this weird yet beautiful set of photos by Alexandre Duret-Lutz.

Alexandre is a bit of a braniac, and despite his detailed explanation I find it all a little hard to understand how it's all done, but it would seem that he takes a standard 360° panorama shot and then uses software to warp it into what he calls Wee Planets.

The results are surprising, giving the impression that the scenes are indeed small planets suspended in space, like in cartoons!

I particularly like the way the sky becomes the background.

Also, a lot of shots are from places in Paris that I know, and it's fun to see them treated like this.

Check out the whole set here.
